It’s not a school, but a playground for professional FX artists, fabricators, and digital creators to explore new technologies, refine their methods, and prototype ideas. It also serves as the internal creature and puppet fabrication workshop for all Oversized Monster productions.

Creature Fabrication Lab

Where nightmares are sculpted. This is where animatronics, full-body suits, prosthetics, and augmented reality creatures are imagined and built from the ground up. Combining traditional fabrication with bleeding-edge engineering, this division brings physical monsters to life.

Monster Media Labs

Where storytelling takes bold new forms. This division explores immersive formats like VR, AR, AI, and game engine-powered experiences. The team also runs creator workshops on digital puppeteering, interactive characters, and realtime media production.

Education & Training Labs

A professional development hub focused on residencies, artist mentorship, FX internships, and hands-on workshops. Inspired by legendary mentors like Dick Smith and Gnomon’s curriculum, this space develops the next evolution of monster-makers.

Tech & Innovation

The R&D center of the Lab, dedicated to pioneering AI-assisted FX tools, soft tissue animation systems, programmable gore rigs, and virtual production pipelines. From maquette-to-motion to creature scans, this is the bleeding edge of creature technology.

Creature Character Shop

Inspired by classic creature shops and modern motion tech, this area specializes in puppet design and fabrication for film, streaming, and practical effects. Includes rod puppets, hand-and-rod hybrids, and complex animatronic puppets designed for performance and character.

Observation Deck

The public-facing wing of Monster Labs. Here fans, clients, and collaborators can observe the process through behind-the-scenes videos, development diaries, FX tutorials, livestreams, and studio interviews.
